A MESSAGE TO OUR NEW NEIGHBORS
We are excited to announce that we are bringing Pitfire Pizza’s hand stretched, fire singed pizzas to Echo Park this winter, carrying on the pizza tradition in the historic Mohawk Bend space on Sunset Ave.
We don’t take lightly the responsibility of becoming a part of the Echo Park community. Pitfire Pizza is LA born and raised, and the history and community of our neighborhoods is most important to us. When Mohawk Bend approached us with the opportunity to carry on the tradition of LA pizza in such a special place, we jumped at the chance to revive a fellow cornerstone of the LA pizza scene and feed a neighborhood full of Los Angeles soul.
Keeping this community in mind, our Echo Park location will be a little different than the typical Pitfire Pizza, as we hope to do an equal job as Mohawk Bend in feeding the vegan community. The classic Pitfire menu already has many options for plant based eating – including a Vegan Caesar Salad and a Vegan Margherita with house made Vegan Cheese. At Echo Park we plan to take it one step further with an extra section of vegan and vegetarian options, potentially including nods to some of Mohawk Bend’s greatest hits.
In speaking of continuing tradition, we also plan to keep the same commitment to craft beer, opening with at least 40 beers on tap in addition to Pitfire’s Cocktails, Craft Slushies, local small production spirits and a tiny but mighty wine list.
We can’t wait to show our Pitfire Big Love mentality to the Echo Park community, and we are already planning on ways to gather our neighbors together over some great food.
We invite in all aspiring Tiny Chefs to join us on Saturday mornings throughout our first two months for free Kids Pizza Making Classes, where they will learn to stretch dough, spread sauce and top pizzas with artisan toppings. Best part – kids get to eat their creation at the end! Reserve a spot for your tiny chef here!
On February 14, we invite our neighbors and the Echo Park community to preview the updated space with a Valentine's Day Open House for the whole family, featuring Kids Pizza Making, passed pizza and appetizers, and a costume contest for those who love a theme.
We also love to raise some dough for a good cause and are actively looking for community organizations who would like to participate in our fundraiser program, earning back 15% of sales on a pizza night for their group.
Lastly, we are excited to support and collaborate with our new community, hoping to partner with local businesses, producers, artisans and makers. If you have an idea for a partnership, we want to hear from you!
